Now that it's dawned on me that I live on a nature preserve, I'm trying to learn the names of the plants and flowers and trees that live here. I found a sign identifying this plant as Oregon Grape/Barberry. The plant is mostly green but must turn red in the fall. This severed branch was lying across the trail.
