Evelyn: When we first moved in, I hung up the whiteboard, which quickly became the collector of things too fun to keep in albums or boxes... so instead it keeps an eye on me in the kitchen when I cook.

Evelyn: a favorite. I've gained a few pounds from the frequent visits lately... But there is something sweet about this spot, the experience of tasting, contemplating, laughing and choosing, then finally filling a cone with my usual flavor favorites.

Sunset to Taco Bus

Eveln: Andre's last night, and we desperately need to get him to the Taco Bus. The sun sets behind us as our tummies gurgle in anticipation.

First Day

Evelyn: This is Justin's first day of his senior year. We have been taking these photos since he started school... and I realize that this is the last set. This is his last year. The last time I have him to myself and can insist he turn around for the camera amidst annoyed groans. Off to school my little ninja.

It's A Colorful Life

Evelyn: I am headed to Gulfport with Andre... a storm is on its way and the sky is spectacular.

Waiting

Evelyn: We eat out a lot. Pito comes out to visit and we hit the Ozona Pig for a delightful dish. We wait, entertaining each other with banter and stories and rubiks cubes.

Sense of Community

Evelyn: I pick up Andre, his first time back in FL since he stayed as a teenager. We jump into laughter and food and a sense of family right away.

[Monica (by Evelyn) The land is burning near Wilbur. The residents have been evacuated as teams of State and Community firefighters work to save the property and residents livelihood. I can only imagine the sense of cohesion and community as they all move through their experience together, balancing life with some time fear and concern. This is how family is built.]

50 Years

Evelyn: Just past midnight, we are cleaning up, and I have the opportunity to get these two together. I feel warm, blessed, to have them in my life, and their stories that remind me there is work in relationships, and joy, and bumps and rides, and the regard they hold for each other seems timeless. I am encouraged.

Looking Towards

 

Evelyn: The evening with Bud & Betty - celebrating 50 years of marriage, family of every kind embracing them with dance, and play, and words.

Balloon-istache

Evelyn: Once again, at Lenny's in Clearwater. Mark is entertaining us with a mermaid bra for his balloon creation ... and we laugh.

As We Set

Evelyn: Self Portrait ... moving quickly towards my 43rd... I mean 34th.

A Bit of Luxury

Evelyn: I was invited to a Brazilian restaurant by a close friend of mine... the food in layers, meat beyond meat sliced for you as requested, and a buffet surrounded by flowers, of veggies and cheeses. It was delightful, both in dining and conversation.

Midnight Arrivals

Evelyn: We got in late, and Gizmo climbed in bed with me... just a little cuddle time before I wake early to drive to work from Apopka to Clearwater the next day.

Palm Springs

Evelyn: Making it home again, we flew from Palm Springs - and found ourselves staring at mountains... a sight I miss here in FL.

Departures

Evelyn: Our goodbyes, our way out of town, making our way back into the real world. I have to say, it was exhausting, the energy of Vegas, and without the desire to gamble and carry on, hard to explore. Regardless, time well spent. What you don't see it the drive for me, to Palm Springs, behind a caravan of Californian's all returning home as well. A 5 hour drive turned into 8.

Hugs

Evelyn: In our exhausted meanderings through Vegas on food, we encountered some dragon/dinosaur-like creatures imploring us to come closer. They were vicious.

Artification

Evelyn: At the competition, different groups were building Rubik cube mosaics... later in the evening, my Birthday present was a ticket to a cirque de sol show. Extraordinary fun.

Arrivals

Evelyn: We arrived at Vegas, 6 hours of driving behind us, and Justin eager to connect with a world of people he knows but hadn't met, in this crazy, lit up, colorful, noisy place.

Hammock Antics

Evelyn: We celebrated Justin's birthday (and Gary's) during the one day I got to spend in San Diego. A day at the beach, and the endless antics of the boys showing each other up with goofiness. I could have put 30 pictures up... but loved the colors in this one.
